For most authors, the fear of rejection weighs heavy on their minds as they finish the last stage of editing and prepare to push the button for publishing to the world. “What if the world hates it?” “What if I am judged for my story?” “What if I lose friends and family because of the picture I painted?”
When the story is worth telling, then the rejection makes it worth it! How do we know the story is worth telling? Usually if it involves pain or adversity then it becomes interesting to a reader. When it includes victory over some form of evil then it becomes worth it!! God creates our story before we are ever born! Every story is worth telling because He overcame death FOR US to be alive in Him! Everything that happens to us in this life is God-inspired and God-breathed!
1 John 4:18 says perfect love casts out fear! Have courage in what you are attempting to do right now. Do not let the fear of rejection keep you from your fullest potential or from doing something amazing with your life! If God wants you on this path, or walking through the door that is open, then walk it with honor and courage in your step. Do not fear the thoughts, approval, or rejection of the world.
So as I conclude, a story of my abuse, trauma, addictions, and betrayal has been released to the world. I hope to NOT be rejected by my friends and family. I hope people who care about me will show me grace. I truly hope that people who don’t know me will walk awhile in my shoes as they read my story and understand how God can transform lives and souls!
